About the Courses
The School on Evolution provides cutting edge, interdisciplinary courses on biological and sociocultural evolution. From Monday to Friday, parallel sessions are organized whereby visiting staff provide a 10-hour course (2 hours a day) on his or her field of expertise.
All courses are taught at a level accessible to students in the exact, life, human and sociocultural evolutionary sciences. Students of evolutionary biology, evolutionary developmental biology, virology, paleontology, evolutionary linguistics, evolutionary anthropology, and philosophy of biology will especially benefit from these courses.
For each course, students will be provided a mandatory reading list which will form the basis of lectures and discussions. There are neither examinations nor paper assignments.
Enrollment
The Summer School is open to (inter)national Master, Doctoral and Postdoctoral students from all academic fields. You may choose to enroll for a specific module (therefore following a 30-hour course on the subject) or you may choose three courses of your specific interest. The registration fee is determined on a weekly basis, regardless the number of courses you choose. Go to registration.
Credits
Students from the University of Lisbon are able to receive official credits for attending the courses (3 per module, 1 per course). FCUL students will receive an official diploma supplement. Credits are provided based upon attendance. All other international participants will receive official certificates of attendance that will include the suggested credit amount attributed by the university to the enrolled students.
For each course, students will be provided a mandatory reading list which will form the basis of lectures and discussions. There are neither examinations nor paper assignments.
Poster Session
Enrolled students have the opportunity to present their work during a poster session. Information on how to sign up for the poster session can be found here.
